Robert Waldinger, MD

Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School

Robert Waldinger is a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and Zen priest. He is the director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies of adult life ever done, at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also directs a teaching program in psychotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and writes about what science can teach us about healthy human development. 

Waldinger has won numerous awards for teaching and research and has consistently earned recognition as one of the best doctors in the United States. His TED talk on lessons from the Harvard Study is one of the ten most-viewed talks in the history of TED. He is also a Zen master (roshi) and teaches meditation in Massachusetts and internationally.
